Use bought puff pastry to make these delightful teatime custard-filled treats.

Custard filled puff pastries

Ingredients
- 2 bought puff pastry rolls
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 60 grams custard powder
- 1 egg mixed
- 2 tbsp cold water
- icing sugar to dust
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 200°C/392F.
- Prepare a very thick custard by heating the milk.
- Add the sugar.
- Mix the custard powder with two tablespoons of water.
- Add the custard paste to the milk, stirring all the time over the heat until it gets thick and starts bubbling.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool and thicken more.
- Cut puff pastry into strips 6 x 3 cm. Cut edges out of the puff pastry, also 6 x 3 cm, but only 1cm wide.
- Use egg mix to stick edges onto the puff pastry bottoms.
- Fill each pastry strip with custard.
- Brush edges with egg.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Dust with icing sugar just before serving.
