This is such a surprisingly easy recipe for sweet-and-sour chicken and super tasty! Serve on a bed of rice.

  • 600 grams chicken breast cut into strips or chunks
  • 500 ml vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 tbsp spice for chicken
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs


  • 2 garlic cloves crushed
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks canned
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 small green pepper diced


  • Mix all the sauce ingredients, except pineapple, onion and green pepper.
  • Whisk eggs.
  • Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. Add spice to flour.
  • Heat the oil in a skillet or pot.
  • Dip the chicken pieces in flour, then in egg mix.
  • Fry in the heated oil for 2 - 3 minutes until brown and cooked through.
  • Use tongs to remove chicken form oil and drain on kitchen towel.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of the oil to a wok.
  • Fry onions and green pepper for 2 minutes.
  • Add sauce and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add chicken chunks and pineapple and stir through.
