This is such a surprisingly easy recipe for sweet-and-sour chicken and super tasty! Serve on a bed of rice.

Sweet-and-sour chicken

- 600 grams chicken breast cut into strips or chunks
- 500 ml vegetable oil for frying
- 1 tbsp spice for chicken
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs
Sauce
- 2 garlic cloves crushed
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup white sugar
- ½ cup vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- ⅓ cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup pineapple chunks canned
- 1 small onion diced
- 1 small green pepper diced
Instructions
- Mix all the sauce ingredients, except pineapple, onion and green pepper.
- Whisk eggs.
- Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. Add spice to flour.
- Heat the oil in a skillet or pot.
- Dip the chicken pieces in flour, then in egg mix.
- Fry in the heated oil for 2 - 3 minutes until brown and cooked through.
- Use tongs to remove chicken form oil and drain on kitchen towel.
- Add 1 tablespoon of the oil to a wok.
- Fry onions and green pepper for 2 minutes.
- Add sauce and cook for 1 minute.
- Add chicken chunks and pineapple and stir through.
