They are fairly solid and scrumptious – a fresh alternative to mince. Serve with the sauce of your choice. However, they are rather moist. This is a very easy Salisbury steak recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 kg minced beef
- 250 ml mushrooms thinly sliced
- 100 ml dry breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs lightly beaten
- 25 ml flour
- 37,5 ml butter or margarine
- 25 ml oil
- 250 ml beef stock
- water
- 5 ml salt
- 2 ml pepper
Garnish
- chopped parsley
Instructions
- Mix the mince, eggs, salt and pepper together in a bowl, then shape the mixture into 6 oval steaks 1 cm thick and 10 cm long.
- Dredge the steaks in breadcrumbs, pressing the crumbs firmly into both sides of each steak, then chill them in the refrigerator.
- Melt 25 ml of the butter or margarine in a large frying-pan and sauté the mushrooms in it.
- Stirring occasionally, until golden brown, remove from the pan.
- Heat the remaining butter or margarine and the oil in the frying pan and fry the steaks, about 2 minutes on either side.
- Then place them on a heated serving dish.
- Stir the stock into the juices in the frying pan.
- Blend the flour with a little cold water to form a smooth paste, then stir gradually into the mixture in the frying pan.
- Bring to the boil, stirring, and cook until thick and smooth.
- Stir in the mushrooms, then add the steaks and simmer in the sauce for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Serve at once, garnished with the parsley.
