  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 12 chicken thighs
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 garlic clove crushed
  • 1 celery stalk chopped
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 3 cups chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp spice for chicken
  • salt and pepper to taste


  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp butter melted
  • ½ - ¾ cup milk
  • ½ tsp mixed herbs


  • Fry onions and garlic in butter.
  • Add chicken and brown somewhat.
  • Add stock, celery and spices and bring to a boil.
  • Turn down heat and simmer for 20 minutes.


  • Mix together melted butter and dry ingredients.
  • Add milk. The batter should be runny.
  • Put spoonfuls of batter over the chicken.
  • Add a lid and cook for a further 10 - 15 minutes.
