Bread Dumplings

  • 3 thick slices of bread
  • 2 cups broth
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp grated nutmeg
  • tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp parsley finely chopped
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • flour


  • Soak the bread in the stock.
  • Squeeze out dry.
  • Heat butter in a saucepan.
  • Add bread and seasoning.
  • Mix over heat. Set aside to cool.
  • Beat eggs into the mix one at a time.
  • Form into balls and roll in flour.
  • Dump into the stew for the last 5 minutes of the stew cooking time.
