Ingredients
- 450 grams ground beef
- 2 large potatoes peeled
- 1 cup frozen peas thawed
- 2 tbsp oil
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- 1 bay leaf crushed
- 2 large onions finely chopped
- 4 garlic cloves crushed
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground cardamom
- 2 tbsp green chile peppers chopped
- 5 cups oil for deep frying
- 1 packet phyllo dough
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan bring the salted water to boil.
- Stir in the potatoes and peas.
- Cook the potatoes until they are tender but still firm for about 15 minutes.
- Mix in the garlic, fresh ginger.
- Season with black pepper, salt, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, cinnamon, and cardamom.
- Stir in the mashed potato mixture.
- Remove from the heat and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour or until cool.
- In a heavy saucepan heat the 5 cups over high heat.
- Mix the chile peppers into the potato and beef mixture.
- Place approximately 1yablespoon of the mixture onto each phyllo sheet.
- Fold the sheets into triangles, pressing the edges together with moist fingers.
- In small batches fry until golden brown for 3 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
