Ingredients
 
 

  • 450 grams ground beef
  • 2 large potatoes peeled
  • 1 cup frozen peas thawed
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf crushed
  • 2 large onions finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • 2 tbsp green chile peppers chopped
  • 5 cups oil for deep frying
  • 1 packet phyllo dough

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan bring the salted water to boil.
  • Stir in the potatoes and peas.
  • Cook the potatoes until they are tender but still firm for about 15 minutes.
  • Mix in the garlic, fresh ginger.
  • Season with black pepper, salt, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, cinnamon, and cardamom.
  • Stir in the mashed potato mixture.
  • Remove from the heat and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour or until cool.
  • In a heavy saucepan heat the 5 cups over high heat.
  • Mix the chile peppers into the potato and beef mixture.
  • Place approximately 1yablespoon of the mixture onto each phyllo sheet.
  • Fold the sheets into triangles, pressing the edges together with moist fingers.
  • In small batches fry until golden brown for 3 minutes.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
